Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh – In a significant stride towards inclusivity and legal empowerment, the Kanpur Queer Welfare Foundation (KQWF) has collaborated with the District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) to appoint five transgender individuals as Para-Legal Volunteers (PLVs). This initiative marks a vital step in bridging the gap between legal awareness and access to justice for marginalized communities.

The legal system, while designed to uphold justice, can often seem complex and intimidating, particularly for vulnerable groups. Para-Legal Volunteers play a crucial role in simplifying legal processes, providing essential support, and ensuring that justice is accessible to all, regardless of their socio-economic status or identity.

The newly appointed transgender PLVs will assist in navigating legal procedures, offering guidance, and raising awareness about legal rights within the transgender community. Their presence is expected to enhance the reach and efficacy of legal services, ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of justice.

Anuj Pandey, Founder of the Kanpur Queer Welfare Foundation said that the organisation is proud to support this initiative, reflecting its ongoing commitment to advocating for the rights and inclusion of the transgender community. The collaboration with DLSA represents a progressive step towards a more equitable legal system in Kanpur.

The Foundation is dedicated to fostering equality and inclusivity for the LGBTQ+ community in Kanpur. Through advocacy, support, and empowerment programs, KQWF aims to address the unique challenges faced by individuals within this community.
