Lakhimpur Kheri- A Class 8 student at the government Upper Primary School Patrasi in Nakaha block has alleged caste-based discrimination and untouchability by a teacher.

The student, identified as Krishna and belonging to the Valmiki community (a Scheduled Caste), has accused a lady teacher of telling him to stay away from her, not allowing him to sit in class, and not teaching him.

According to the account shared locally, the teacher allegedly said that when he comes to the class, she would not remain in the school. The student has said his only “fault” is being born in the Valmiki community and that the alleged treatment is affecting his studies and morale.

Local residents who have spoken about the matter have called the allegations, if proven, a violation of the right to education, equality, and the spirit of the Constitution. They have demanded an impartial inquiry and action as per rules.

Ashmit Soni, media in-charge of the Bharatiya Adivasi Party (BAP) in Rajasthan, has shared Krishna’s video and asked Uttar Pradesh Police to investigate.

Soni wrote that discrimination is never based on economic grounds. Social media claims, he said, allege the child was driven out of class after caste slurs. Tagging @Uppolice, he asked the force to examine the matter and take strict action if anyone is found guilty.

No official confirmation of an FIR, departmental inquiry, or police statement was independently available at the time of writing. The student's claim couldn't be verified. An impartial probe by the education department and police remains necessary so facts can be established and the student’s studies are not disrupted.

Caste-based discrimination in schools is prohibited under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, and, where the victim belongs to a Scheduled Caste, may attract provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Such complaints are required to be examined through a formal inquiry by the education department and, if a cognizable offence is made out, by the police.
