Jaipur- In a landmark ruling, a special POCSO court in Jobner, Jaipur, handed down a severe sentence of 20 years of rigorous imprisonment to a school teacher and his accomplice for the abduction, rape, and blackmail of a minor student. The court also imposed a fine of ₹4.5 lakh on both convicted individuals, identified as school teacher Afzal Khan and his associate Ramswaroop.
The case, which dates back to 2024, saw the main accused, Afzal Khan, abduct the minor girl by threatening her. He took the victim to Sirsa, Haryana. Upon learning of the abduction, the girl’s family immediately alerted the police. Jaipur Rural Police registered a case and successfully rescued the victim from Sirsa within two days. Following the rescue, both Afzal Khan and his aide Ramswaroop were arrested.
The prosecution presented a strong case in court, thanks to the efforts of Case Officer under the ‘Case Officer Scheme’ and Special Public Prosecutor Mahaveer Singh Krishnawat. He effectively presented evidence and witnesses, playing a crucial role in securing the conviction. The police had arrested the main accused, Afzal Khan, from Sirsa, Haryana.
Jaipur Range IG Rahul Prakash confirmed that Afzal and Ramswaroop conspired to kidnap the minor, raped her, and subsequently blackmailed her. After a trial that lasted nearly two years, the POCSO court delivered justice to the victim, handing down a stringent punishment. The entire investigation was closely monitored, with the then SSP also directing that a special public prosecutor be appointed given the gravity of the case.
IG Rahul Prakash further stated that the verdict sends a strong message to society, especially regarding the heinous crime committed by a teacher against a minor student. The court’s decision has been hailed as historic, ensuring that the convicts face 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for their brutal acts.
