Humanity Shamed: Widow Stripped Naked, Viciously Assaulted with Chilli Powder Over Alleged Love Affair

Udaipur— In a shocking incident that highlights the plight of vulnerable individuals in society, a widow was subjected to humiliation and public shaming based on unfounded suspicions of a love affair. The appalling act, which took place three days ago, on June 29, in the Bekaria police station area in Kotda block of Udaipur,  came to the attention of authorities only after a video of the incident went viral on various social media platforms.

After a joint effort by the Udaipur and Pali police teams, the main accused, identified as Rami Bai Garasia, along with her brother Vinod Kumar Garasia and sister-in-law Reshmi Garasia, residents of Nana police station area Koyalwas in Pali district, have been arrested while one has been detained.

According to police reports, the victim, a widow residing in Devla, endured an ordeal of unimaginable cruelty on the premise of allegations against her character.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety and dignity of vulnerable members of society, particularly widows, who often face unjustified scrutiny and mistreatment. 

The incident was brought to light when a video capturing the act surfaced on social media, drawing widespread outrage and condemnation.

The distressing footage depicted a group of women brutally attacking the widow, dragging and stripping her naked, and ruthlessly assaulting her. In an act of further cruelty, they allegedly poured chili powder on her private parts, leaving the victim in excruciating pain and distress.

In addition to the physical assault, the victim's shop was ransacked by the perpetrators, leaving her not only traumatized but also facing significant economic losses.

Witnesses stated that during the deplorable act, the widow's young child clung to her, helplessly crying in terror as the women showed no remorse or compassion for their actions.

Despite the incident occurring three days before its dissemination on social media, the widow chose not to immediately report the incident to the police. It was the viral video that prompted the authorities to take swift action, investigating the matter thoroughly.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with residents expressing their outrage and demanding justice for the victim. The police, recognizing the severity of the case, formed a special team to expedite the investigation.

On Saturday, Udaipur collector Tarachand Meena, SP Bhuvan Bhushan Yadav, Dy Director of Social Welfare Department Mandhata Singh and other officials went to the spot to take stock of the situation.

Swift Police Action Leads to Arrest of Accused Perpetrators

After the videos went viral  , law enforcement agencies took immediate and decisive action. Authorities are actively investigating the case and have registered a complaint under the IT Act 2000, addressing the dissemination of the video and the humiliation the victim endured. The joint efforts of the Udaipur and Pali police teams resulted in the arrest of the main accused, along with her brother and sister-in-law. However, additional perpetrators are being sought in connection with the incident.

Mukesh Jat, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Bekaria shared insights into the victim's life, stating that she had been living alone for the past two years after her husband's demise. To support herself financially, she had taken up a sewing job. According to sources close to the investigation, the woman was allegedly involved in a romantic relationship with a youth. Upon learning about the supposed affair, the youth's wife purportedly gathered a group of women to carry out the act of public disgrace against the widow. The motive behind the assault appears to have been aimed at humiliating the victim and tarnishing her reputation within the community. The police are actively investigating the incident to ascertain all the facts surrounding the case.

Heartbreaking Scene as Child Clings to Mother Amidst Horrific Ordeal

The incident that unfolded in the Bakaria police station area left witnesses horrified, particularly due to the heart-wrenching sight of the victim's five year old child clinging to his mother in sheer terror. As the widow was subjected to an appalling act of humiliation and violence, the child's cries echoed through the air.  The child is seen wailing and struggling to protect and save his mother from the clutches of the attackers. While the women continued the disgracing act, their men recorded the shameful act on their mobile phones.
