Delhi HC Orders Unblocking of CJP’s X Account: “Will Continue to Raise Youth's Voice, Both Online and Offline,” Says Abhijit Dipke

New Delhi: In a significant boost to free speech and digital rights, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, ordered the immediate unblocking of the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) original X account @CJP_2029. The court allowed the plea filed by CJP founder Abhijit Dipke, observing that the Centre’s primary concern regarding possible disruption during the NEET exam no longer holds as the examination is over.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the bench that the government had blocked the account fearing that CJP’s posts could create chaos among students and parents during the NEET period. Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma noted that with the exam process concluded, the core objection stands resolved and directed restoration of the account.

Reacting promptly to the order, Abhijit Dipke posted on X: “In a big win for the Cockroach Janta Party, the Delhi High Court has ordered unblocking of our original X account @CJP_2029. This is a big win not just for the CJP and the movement, but also for free speech and digital rights. We will continue to raise the voice of the youth, both online and offline!”

Addressing a press conference following the hearing, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke thanked the Delhi High Court for its decision and questioned the Centre's contradictory stand before the Court.

"When our account was blocked, the government claimed that we were a threat to national security. Today, before the Court, it says the blocking was only because our posts could create unrest among students and parents during the NEET examination. These contradictory statements are absurd in the first place. Had we posted anything wrong or illegal, our account should have been blocked. But all we were doing was raising the voice of the youth of this country. Blocking our account without any warning was completely unjustified," Dipke said.

Education reform activist and Scientist Sonam Wangchuk also welcomed the Court's decision and thanked the judiciary for protecting democratic expression.

"We thank the Court for this decision. We hope this peaceful rebellion is heard by the government and that such non-violent methods are rewarded, not punished. Otherwise, people will lose faith in peaceful protest," Wangchuk said.

Expressing concern over the government's continued silence and Sonam Wangchuk's deteriorating health, Abhijeet added, "It is deeply unfortunate that someone like Sonam Wangchuk Ji has been on a hunger strike for days, yet the government refuses to act. It is difficult to understand how a government can be so ignorant."

The CJP account had surged in popularity within days of its launch, drawing millions of followers. It was blocked by the government in May 2026 amid the NEET controversy. Dipke then approached the Delhi High Court seeking relief. After initial hearings where immediate restoration was not granted, the matter was taken up for final hearing today, resulting in a favourable order for the party.

The party leaders reiterated that the student movement will continue both on the ground and online until accountability is fixed for repeated examination failures and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns.
