Ranchi- A deeply disturbing case of alleged sexual exploitation and systematic grooming of minor girl students has emerged from Shraddhanand Sevashram Middle School, a government-aided institution in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. The accused, Abhishek Kumar Sinha, a teacher appointed as recently as December 2023, stands implicated in a series of predatory actions that represent a grave breach of trust.
The allegations against Sinha are severe and specific. He is accused of systematically manipulating minor girls into a "love trap," initiating obscene conversations, and coercing them into engaging in nude video chats. The most chilling accusation involves him allegedly taking one minor student to a hotel, where he kept her with him throughout the night. The psychological impact on the victim has been devastating; sources report she is so severely traumatized that she has been unable to attend school for several days.
The school's administration, led by Principal Anuj Kumar Singh, is now facing serious allegations of a cover-up. Information regarding the teacher's criminal acts was formally brought to the principal's attention on Monday, August 18th. However, in a move that has raised alarms, instead of immediately reporting the matter to the police as mandated by law, the principal opted to issue the accused teacher a mere warning letter the following day, Tuesday, August 19th, an action perceived as a deliberate attempt to bury the scandal.
Compounding this failure, The Mooknayak has learned from reliable sources that on that same Tuesday, Principal Singh pressured members of the school staff to sign a fabricated document. This letter falsely claimed that all teachers had been aware of the allegations against Sinha for a period of six months, a tactic seemingly designed to spread blame and justify the administration's inaction.
The pattern of suppression extends beyond the school walls. An anonymous formal complaint, detailing the entire affair, has been submitted to the Education Secretary and the Jharkhand Women's Commission. The complaint asserts that at least 10 to 15 students have fallen victim to the teacher's actions and that the school management was fully aware yet complicit through its silence. It further makes a explosive claim: that Abhishek Kumar Sinha's appointment was secured by bribing the school secretary, a revelation that provides a potential motive for the administration's desperate attempts to shield the accused and silence the victims.
The complainant, who chose to remain anonymous, revealed that their daughter is also a student at this school and that the students themselves had informed the school management about this, but no steps were taken. This pattern has been ongoing since February 2024, where the teacher would engage in obscene chats with students after school hours and incite them for sexual acts.
On the condition of anonymity, a social activist stated that due to a lack of sex education, these adolescent girls are unable to understand the teacher's perverted mentality, and many students have already fallen into his trap. When such incidents involving several students came to light one by one, the girls mustered up the courage to tell a female teacher. However, even after the school principal was informed, no report was made to the police, nor was any disciplinary action taken against the teacher.
Attached as evidence in the complaint is a screenshot of an obscene chat between the teacher and a student, which exposes the teacher's depraved mentality. The complainant has demanded that the teacher's mobile phone and laptop be seized and investigated to determine how many innocent students this predator has victimized.
This case is a clear example of a sexual offense under the POCSO Act 2012, where molestation and exploitation of minors are considered serious crimes. The complaint also states that if an inquiry is conducted with the students by female members of an NGO, many more cases will come to light, as the school management only confirmed the allegations after speaking with 4-5 students but did not inform the police or any competent authority.
Given the seriousness of the matter, the complainant has demanded an immediate investigation, calling for the arrest of the teacher and action against those members of the school management involved in suppressing these allegations. There are also accusations of the students being intimidated and threatened to keep them silent. A social activist believes this incident raises serious questions about the safety of girls in schools. While the government emphasizes girls' education and safety on one hand, such teachers are jeopardizing their future on the other. The Jharkhand Women's Commission has confirmed receiving this complaint.
The accused teacher, Abhishek, was appointed in December 2023, and this pattern of behavior has been ongoing since February 2024. The complaint sent to the Women's Commission includes screenshots of a chat between the accused teacher and a student, a copy of which is with The Mooknayak. Reading this conversation makes one realize how a teacher has raised serious questions about the education system and the sanctity of a guru's role.
While engaging in obscene chats with a minor student, the teacher asks her about her private parts, the color of her undergarments, demand that she wear a deep-neck top and lift it up on a video call, and come on the call dressed that way. The most shocking thing is that he directly asked the student – "Will you let me take your virginity?" The student, who is around 15 years old, writes about having physical relations after the 10th grade, to which the accused teacher demanded that she send him topless pictures. The conversation suggests that the accused had previously engaged in obscene acts on video calls with the same girl on multiple occasions.
Sources describe a manipulative cycle of behavior from the accused teacher. Even his marriage in December only briefly interrupted his communication with the student before he resumed his predatory actions. His tactics were consistent across multiple students: he allegedly used pretexts like discussing body image and offering "weight-gain medicine" as a gateway to make inappropriate physical advances.
When contacted by The Mooknayak for comment, Principal Anuj Kumar Singh requested identification and subsequently terminated the call. All subsequent attempts to reach him were met with immediate disconnection.
