Accuses him of historical ignorance detrimental to the nation

Jaipur – Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari launched a scathing attack on Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, accusing him of attempting to divide Indian society along caste lines. Speaking at a BJP Mahila Morcha event in Dausa, Kumari urged for a boycott of Gandhi, stating that his lack of historical knowledge was detrimental to the nation.

Kumari specifically condemned Gandhi's recent article, in which he argued that the East India Company's rule over India was facilitated by alliances with and bribes paid to "pliant maharajas and nawabs." She asserted that this statement displayed a profound ignorance of history, ignoring the significant role played by princely states in India's unification.

The Deputy Chief Minister, herself a granddaughter of the last Maharaja of Jaipur, Man Singh II, defended the contributions of former royal families to India's independence. She emphasized the sacrifices made by these families in the struggle for a united India.

Kumari's criticism echoed that of other descendants of Indian royal families. Vikramaditya Singh, grandson of the last Maharaja of Kashmir, Maharaja Sir Hari Singh, criticized Gandhi's "superficial understanding of history" and condemned his attempt to "malign the Maharajas' colossal contributions to the Republic of India."

Chaitanya Raj Singh, representing the former royal family of Jaisalmer, deemed Gandhi's claims "baseless and unacceptable," suggesting that the Congress leader should "look into the pages of history" to understand the true nature of India's unification.
