Mumbai - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on the Congress party today following an incident at Rahul Gandhi's Samvidhan Samman Sammelan convention in Nagpur. The controversy stems from the distribution of blank notebooks, purportedly presented as copies of the Indian Constitution, at the event.

Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrakant Patil accused the Congress of planning to rewrite the Constitution to suit its own agenda, symbolized by the blank notebooks. State BJP chief spokesperson Keshava Upadhye posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the Congress's distribution of blank notebooks as copies of the Constitution suggested their intent to rewrite the Constitution to their liking.

Congress chief spokesman Atul Londhe defended the party, denying the BJP's allegations and questioning their motives for criticizing Rahul Gandhi's possession of a Constitution copy. Londhe emphasized the Congress party's commitment to upholding the Constitution.

During his address at the convention, Gandhi had highlighted the importance of the Constitution, stating that it embodies the teachings of great figures like Buddha, Gandhi, Ambedkar, Ashoka, and Phule. He accused the BJP and RSS of undermining the values enshrined in the document.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took aim at Gandhi for carrying a red-covered copy of the Constitution, questioning his motives and accusing him of forming a coalition of "anarchists."

Congress state president Nana Patole criticized Fadnavis's right to question the color of the Constitution's cover, defending the party's stance on upholding the document.
