Hyderabad- “42% reservations for Backward Classes (BC) in education, employment, and local bodies must be implemented without fail,” demanded G. Kiran Kumar, National President of the All India OBC Students Association (AIOBCSA). In support of this demand, a grand BC Dhoom Dham program was organized at Tagore Auditorium, Osmania University, under the leadership of AIOBCSA National Secretary Mahesh Goud and Telangana Working President Rajesh Shamirpet.

They questioned the relevance of having a BC leader like Narendra Modi as Prime Minister if such crucial matters remain unresolved. They also questioned why Union Minister Bandi Sanjay and other BC MPs are remaining silent on this issue.

Telangana Minerals Development Corporation Chairperson Anil Eravathri, retired DGP Dr. Jujjavarapu Poornachandra Rao, former IAS officer Chiranjeevulu, Prof. Kancha Illaiah, former DGP Purnachandra Rao, former Minister Srinivas Goud, Telangana intellectual Pashyam Yadgiri, National President of BC Welfare Association Jajula Srinivas Goud, and National BC Dal President Dundra Kumar Swamy were among the prominent attendees who addressed the gathering.

They urged both the central and state governments to focus on implementing 42% reservations for BCs. They warned that if the reservations are not implemented, the central and state governments will have to take responsibility for the consequences.

They expressed concern over the fact that, even after three months of unanimous passage of the reservation bills for 42% in education, employment, and local bodies in Telangana and sending them to the Centre, there has been no response. They pointed out that although the bills have been forwarded, the Centre’s inaction in including them in the Ninth Schedule shows an anti-BC attitude.

The event was followed by vibrant cultural performances including Dappu, Oggu Dolu, and folk singing, celebrating BC identity and resistance.
