The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), formed to review the Waqf(Amendment) Bill, 2024, is likely to submit its report before the first week of the winter session of parliament, Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijju said on Saturday.

Mr Rijju said that the JPC will publish the date of the hearing on the matter soon. He also welcomed the participation of various organisations and individuals in the JPC process.

He said, “It is a very futuristic bill. The government had introduced the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 in the Budget Session of Parliament which was referred to the Joint Parliamentary Committee for further scrutiny.”

The minister said that the intention of the government is to protect the welfare of the Muslim community through this legislation.
