The Mooknayak English

Tirupattur- A Dalit youth hailing from Tirupattur district in Tamil Nadu has filed a grievous complaint with the Amballur police station, alleging the abduction of his wife orchestrated by her family, assisted by a prominent local DMK leader. M. Thiyagu, a 21-year-old resident of Shankarapuram village, expressed distress in his complaint, claiming that his wife, R. Narmada (22), a member of the Vanniyar community, was forcefully taken away by her parents, along with the collaboration of a DMK leader, Elumalai, and other relatives.

Thiyagu, belonging to the Adidravidar community, a Scheduled Caste, recounted a six-year love story culminating in marriage with Narmada on December 3, 2023. Despite objections from Narmada's family, the couple tied the knot, leading to a missing person complaint filed by the family the following day. To address the situation, the couple appeared in the Vaniyambadi court on December 7, where Narmada expressed her desire to live with her husband.

Subsequently, Thiyagu detailed relentless harassment from Narmada's family, reaching a climax on January 17. He asserted that Narmada's parents, Rajendran and Vasantha, along with her brothers Govinda Raj, Prabhu, and Rajesh, aided by the DMK leader Elumalai, forcefully entered their residence in Shankarapuram. In response to the distressing incident, Thiyagu has filed a complaint, leading to the registration of a case under sections 448, 294 (B), and 365 of the IPC by the Amballur police.

Authorities have already questioned Narmada's father, Rajendran, while the other suspects remain at large. Tirupattur Superintendent of Police Albert John, when contacted by IANS, assured that efforts are underway to locate and bring Narmada back safely.
