Supreme Court Orders Removal of Kolkata Rape Victim's Details from Social Media

New Delhi- In a recent order passed by the Supreme Court, it has been directed that all social media platforms remove the name, photos, and video clips of the Kolkata rape and murder victim. This order was passed while hearing the case of the alleged rape and murder of a doctor at the RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata.

The apex court gave the directions, including the removal of the photos, videos, and name of the victim from all social media platforms. The court also asked the CISF to provide protection and safety to the doctors, especially the female doctors working in the hospital.

It has also been directed to create a national task force by the apex court, which will work towards ensuring the safety of medical professionals across the country. This task force is expected to submit its preliminary report within three weeks, with the final report within two months. The purpose of this task force is to provide recommendations on the steps that should be taken to safeguard the safety of women doctors.

The apex court has also expressed dissatisfaction with the West Bengal government and the hospital authorities over the way they have handled this case. The court has asked the government and the hospital to take steps to improve the handling of such cases in the future.
