Udaipur- In a landmark judgment on Monday, November 4, the Special POCSO-2 Court in Udaipur pronounced its verdict in the horrific case involving the rape and dismemberment of an 8-year-old girl in Mavli area. The court sentenced the main accused, Kamlesh alias Karan Singh Rajput, to death, while his parents received four-year imprisonment each for aiding in concealing evidence.

The judgment was delivered by Judge Sanjay Bhatnagar. According to Special Public Prosecutor Syed Hussain, the court's decision was based on substantial evidence. The convict's parents, Kishan Kanwar and Ram Singh, were found guilty of complicity in the crime.

The minor was dismembered into ten parts and discarded in plastic bags, inside a ruined structure.

Kamlesh Rajput, a school dropout and unemployed youth, had fallen victim to the addiction of mobile devices and pornography. The pernicious influence of adult films had stoked the flames of his sexual appetite, which he sought to satiate through the abuse of the hapless child who had innocently passed by his dwelling on the fateful day of March 29.

As Kamlesh was being led out of the courtroom, he created a scene before the media, claiming his innocence and alleging police coercion. However, the court had found him guilty based on comprehensive evidence and witness testimonies.

This case, which drew attention not only in Udaipur but throughout Rajasthan, sends a strong message against crimes targeting minors. The police acted swiftly in arresting all accused and filed a strong charge sheet with compelling evidence.

The horrific crime unfolded on March 29, 2023, when 21-year-old Kamlesh lured the 9-year-old victim, who lived in the neighborhood, with the promise of chocolate. When the body parts began decomposing, they disposed of them in a nearby ruins, where they were discovered on April 1.

Following the discovery, police first arrested Kamlesh Rajput and later apprehended his parents. The murder weapon, a knife used to dismember the victim, was recovered from the accused's house.

The minor was not only an innocent victim but also the only daughter and youngest of 5 siblings in the family.

The murder sparked widespread outrage across all communities. Tribal and Dalit organizations, along with various unions and social institutions, demanded justice for the victim. Under the banners of Bhim Army Udaipur and Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Mahasabha Mavli, hundreds of protesters held demonstrations at the Udaipur district headquarters.
