Hyderabad: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati launched the party’s campaign for the Telangana assembly election on Wednesday. She addressed a public meeting in the Suryapet district of the state. RS Praveen, a former IPS officer who joined the party in 2021 is the Chief Ministerial Candidate of the party. The polling for 119 assembly seats in Telangana is scheduled for November 30, and the BSP has fielded candidates in 107 assembly seats, contesting the election on its own strength.

Congress Ignored Babasaheb in awarding Bharat Ratna. Addressing a rally, BSP supremo cautioned the people against the Congress and reminded that the Congress did not confer Bharat Ratna on Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar for a long time, and it was the V.P. Singh government which awarded Bharat Ratna to him. The Congress did not declare a day of mourning on the death of Manyawar Kanshiram.

She attacked the BRS led state government for its law and order and the attack on BSP candidate and his associates. She alleged that this attack was orchestrated as the BSP candidates are winning. Mayawati also did not spare the BJP, saying that the pro-privatisation policy of the ruling BJP was depriving SC/ST/OBC communities of their reservation benefits. She cautioned against the government's efforts to undermine reservations in promotions for these communities through legal means.

BSP is dependent on the contribution from the Workers for the funds. 'If you cannot improve the law and order, you don’t have any right to stay in power.' Holding the pro-capitalist policies of the state governments responsible for the rising inflation and poverty, she said that instead of a few chosen industrialists, the poor people should benefit and claimed that unlike other parties, BSP does not depend on industrialists for funding but it is the ordinary workers of the party who contribute funds to the party,' said the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

RS Praveen Kumar launches a scathing attack on BRS

Before party supremo Mayawati, R.S. Praveen Kumar came down heavily on the Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar. He alleged that K. Chandrashekhar Rao, the BRS chief minister, and his family had amassed wealth worth Rs 1.20 lakh crore through the Kaleswaram project. He said that the funds meant for the grandiose project were being siphoned off to BRS leaders.

The former IPS officer also criticized the BRS government for failing to fulfill the aspirations of the martyrs who had laid down their lives for the Telangana movement. He called on people to vote for Suryapet BSP candidate Vatte Jannaiah in the upcoming elections as Jannaiah was a strong votary of social justice and is committed to the betterment of the people.

Praveen Kumar also criticized the police for creating hurdles for the BSP meeting in Suryapet. BSP, a national party, which performed badly in Uttar Pradesh in 2022, is hoping to use Telangana as a springboard to expand its base in South India.

In the 2018 assembly election, the BSP fielded 106 candidates but drew a blank. However, in the 2014 assembly election, the party managed to win two seats. The party is also upbeat for the assembly elections because of the encouraging response the Rajyadhikar Yatra led by the Telangana state president RS Praveen has generated.
