Hyderabad- Highlighting the need for caste-based policy analysis at the national level, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka stated that it is essential to assess the social, educational, and economic status of all castes through a comprehensive national Census.
A delegation led by BC JAC Convenor and STF President Devarakonda Saidulu, along with National OBC Intellectual Forum President Alla Ramakrishna, met the Deputy Chief Minister along with a student delegation.
He observed that the caste survey conducted by the Government of Telangana stands as a model for the nation and can serve as a guiding framework for implementing a comprehensive caste census across India.
On this occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister released the book titled “Caste Census and Deepening of Social Justice.” The book is authored by Shri G. Kiran Kumar, National President of the All India OBC Students Association (AIOBCSA) and research scholar at the University of Hyderabad, along with Dr. Vahini Billu. The book highlights the importance of caste enumeration in strengthening democratic governance and deepening social justice.
Following the book release, the Deputy Chief Minister held discussions with a delegation comprising members of the BC Teachers, Professionals, Intellectuals, and Students Joint Action Committee (JAC) and the All India OBC Students Association (AIOBCSA). The delegation included D. Ashok, Surender, Ganesh, Shiva, Aravind, Lucky, Praveen, and Mallesh, among others.
During the meeting, key issues such as caste-based inequalities, lack of representation, and the need for institutional mechanisms to achieve inclusive development were discussed in detail.
The event marked an important step toward strengthening the national discourse on caste census and advancing the agenda of social justice in India.
