Ujjain- President Droupadi Murmu said that Safai Mitras are the frontline sanitation warriors of the country. They protect us from diseases, dirt, and other health risks. They play a crucial role in the nation's development. The biggest credit for the country's achievements in the field of cleanliness at the local, state, and national level goes to our Safai Mitras. She graced and addressed Safai Mitra Sammelan in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh on Thursday. She also laid the foundation stone for the Indore-Ujjain Six Lane Road Project on the occasion.
The President said that the government and society are committed to ensuring the safety, health, and welfare of Safai Mitras. Arrangements are being made to eliminate man holes and clean them through machine holes. Efforts are also being made to provide better healthcare facilities to Safai Mitras through the Safai Mitra Suraksha Camps. The President expressed her happiness that many cities in Madhya Pradesh have been declared as Safai Mitra Surakshit cities.
The President said that the Swachh Bharat Mission, which will continue till the year 2025, has the ultimate goal of achieving complete cleanliness. The country has to achieve national targets in solid and liquid waste management while maintaining the status of being 'free from open defecation'.
A campaign to spread the message of 'Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskar Swachhata' is underway across the country. People have pledged to serve Mother India by removing dirt and litter from their streets and villages. The President expressed confidence that all citizens will come forward and participate in the Swachh Bharat Mission and take a pledge to build a clean India, a healthy India, and a developed India.
