New Delhi- The Ministry of Labour and Employment (DoL) will hold its fourth regional meeting with Eastern States in Bhubaneswar on September 20. The meeting will focus on the implementation of labour reforms and the establishment of the eShram-National Database of Unorganised Workers (NDUW).
The meeting will be chaired by Sumita Dawra, Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment. During the meeting, participants will discuss harmonizing draft rules created by states/UTs and the central government under Labour Codes, as well as employment data and suggestions for the proposed Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme.
The agenda of the meeting includes the harmonisation of draft rules of various labour and employment statutes by the central and state governments; the implementation of the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme; the expansion of various central welfare schemes to building and construction workers; the establishment of an e-Shram portal as a one-stop solution for easy access to social security benefits for unorganised workers, including migrant workers, and other labour and employment issues.
This meeting is part of the ongoing series of regional consultations by the government of India with the states and union territories of the country. The first regional meeting was held in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kerala, Puducherry, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands in Bengaluru. The second regional meeting was in Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, and Rajasthan in Chandigarh. The third regional meeting was held in Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Lakshadweep in Rajkot, Gujarat.
