Muvattupuzha- In a shocking and deeply disturbing incident, Kerala grapples with the aftermath of a heart-wrenching case of mob violence, culminating in the tragic death of a migrant worker. The victim, identified as 24-year-old Ashok Das from Arunachal Pradesh, had journeyed to Kerala in search of employment opportunities. Settling in a rented accommodation at Valakam in Muvattupuzha, Ashok's aspirations were met with an unforeseen and grim fate.

The tragic incident occurred on Thursday night when Ashok Das visited the rented house of two female friends near the Valakom junction. Subsequently, Ashok's behavior turned violent, leading to an altercation where he sustained injuries. He broke the glass of an almirah and sustained injuries. When he stepped out of the house with bleeding hands, neighbors questioned him which panicked the youth. He tried to flee but was stopped by people.

As tensions escalated, locals intervened, resulting in Ashok being tied to a pole on the road and brutally beaten. Despite being admitted to the hospital around 11 PM, Ashok succumbed to his injuries early the next day.What should have been an ordinary visit quickly spiraled into a nightmare as he found himself accosted by local residents. Allegedly, Ashok Das was forcibly restrained, bound to a pillar, and subjected to violent interrogation by the irate crowd.

In response to this heinous crime, authorities swiftly intervened, apprehending ten individuals in connection with the incident. A case has been registered under section 174 of the Indian Penal Code, with additional charges expected pending further investigation.

Tragically, Ashok Das's injuries proved fatal, despite efforts to save him. He succumbed to his grievous injuries while undergoing treatment at Kolencherry Medical College Hospital the following day.

Subsequent investigations have revealed disturbing details surrounding Ashok Das's death. Police confirm that Ashok succumbed to injuries sustained during the mob ordeal. This conclusion is supported by the postmortem report and statements from medical professionals. Additionally, statements from witnesses, including females residing in the rented house visited by Ashok moments before his death, and video evidence have contributed to the investigation.

Ten individuals, including three from the same family, have been arrested in connection with the incident. Murder charges have been pressed against all the accused. The accused are identified as Bijeesh (44), Amal (39), Sanal (38), Elias K Paul (55), Aneesh (40), Sathyakumar (56), Keshav Sathyan (20), Sooraj Sathyan (26), Emil (27), and Athul Krishna (23). They were arrested by a team of police led by Ernakulam rural district police chief Vaibhav Saxena and subsequently remanded by the court.

The postmortem report indicates that Ashok suffered serious blows to his head and chest, which are cited as the primary causes of his death. As investigations continue, Kerala grapples with the sobering reality of vigilantism and the tragic loss of a promising young life.

Following his death, outraged fans and followers posted on Ashok Das's channel, expressing dismay over Kerala's descent to such a low level, and demanding justice for the perpetrators, asserting, "Don't let the murderers go unpunished," while lamenting Ashok Das as a victim of Kerala's societal challenges.

"God's country has fallen to such a low level," urged one commenter. "Don't let the murderers escape," echoed another. "A victim of Kerala's sexual poverty," lamented a follower, expressing deep concern on Ashok Das's channel.
