Chhattisgarh: Outcry Over Non Availability of Ambulance in Health Minister's Constituency Following Viral Video of Stillborn's Body Transported on Bike

Raipur- In Chhattisgarh, a disturbing video from the constituency area of the health minister has surfaced, showing three individuals transporting the body of a stillborn baby on a bike.

Allegations suggest that no mortuary vehicle was provided to transport the deceased's body.

The infant reportedly passed away during delivery at a Community Health Center (CHC) in the area. It is claimed that despite requests from the family, a hearse was not arranged by the hospital administration.

Consequently, the grieving relatives had to endure a nearly four-hour wait, hungry and thirsty, for transportation arrangements. When no vehicle was forthcoming, they resorted to carrying the infant's body on a bike.

The incident occurred at the Sonhat Community Health Center in Korea District. Pooja, a resident of Pondi village, delivered a still born on May 22nd morning at the CHC.

Subsequently, the hospital handed over the infant's body to the family members without arranging for a carrier, despite their requests.

Family members lamented the ordeal, stating that the hospital delayed releasing the body, forcing them to wait for four hours. In desperation, they eventually transported the child's body home on a bike. The lack of humanity displayed in Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal's constituency has sparked widespread condemnation, evident in the viral video.

The video has prompted outrage on social media platforms, with Gulab Kamaro, former MLA of Bharatpur Sonhat, expressing his anger. Social media users have tagged and criticized both the former MLA and Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal and MLA Renuka Singh highlighting the minister's preoccupation with campaigning while infants are dying.

Such incidents underscore the shameful state of the health system, where even mortuary vehicles are unavailable in times of need.

Efforts to reach Block Medical Officer (BMO) Shrestha Mishra for comment were unsuccessful at the time of writing. Updates will follow upon receiving a response.
