New Delhi— The Karnataka High Court has announced that a portrait of Dr. BR Ambedkar — the architect of the Constitution of India — will be displayed in all court halls across the state.

Two official circulars were issued on June 19, directing that the portrait be placed in every courtroom of the High Court’s Benches in Bengaluru, Dharwad, and Kalaburagi, as well as in all district courts.

This decision comes after public requests, appeals by legal bodies and organizations, and communication from the state government. Earlier, on April 26, the full bench of the High Court had already passed a resolution to feature Dr. Ambedkar's portrait prominently in every courtroom.

Acting on this resolution, the Additional Registrars General were instructed to ensure the portrait’s installation at all High Court Benches. Similar directions were also sent to district judiciaries across Karnataka.

The circular stated, “It is hereby directed to display the portrait of Bharat Ratna Dr. BR Ambedkar, Father and Architect of the Constitution of India, at a prominent place in all the court halls of the District Judiciary of the State.”
