Delhi- Amid an unprecedented security crackdown across the National Capital Region, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has formally announced that Ajinkya Shinde, National Organization In-Charge, will lead the scheduled protest at Jantar Mantar. This transition comes after Delhi Police detained CJP Founder Abhijeet Dipke, along with key organizers Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, directly from inside their aircraft upon landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI).
Anticipating state suppression, founder Abhijeet Dipke recorded a video message on Friday night, which was released shortly following his custody. In the statement, Dipke urged citizens to unite behind Ajinkya Shinde:
"If you are watching this video, it means Ashutosh Ranka, Saurav Das, and I have been taken into custody. The movement does not end here. Ajinkya Shinde will lead the protest at Jantar Mantar for as long as we remain in detention. Please follow Ajinkya Shinde as he carries this fight forward. The demand for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s immediate resignation must continue unconditionally."
Taking command of the movement, Ajinkya Shinde condemned the authoritarian measures enforced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, framing the administration's crackdown as a sign of institutional panic:
"The government’s intense fear and desperate crackdowns prove one thing clearly: we have already won half the fight. The solidarity of citizens coming together from across the country has shaken the regime to its core.
We call upon every citizen to march toward Jantar Mantar. If your movement is blocked by barricades or police personnel anywhere on the streets, do not stop, start your protest right where you are stopped. The nation’s movement to safeguard democracy and demand the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar will go on."
Authorities have deployed heavy police and CAPF personnel, shut down entry and exit gates across multiple Delhi Metro stations, diverted incoming trains, and imposed localized internet blackouts in central Delhi.
Hundreds of youth activists, supporters, and key public figures including prominent legal heads and civil society members have been placed under preventive detention from entry points including IGI Airport, Connaught Place, and border checkposts. Protesters are being moved to temporary containment centers across the capital, including Chhatrasal Stadium and Yamuna Sports Complex.
Core demands of the movement still stands as listed below -
1. Immediate Resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar and initiation of criminal proceedings over Special Intensive Revision (SIR) electoral roll manipulation.
2. Freezing of 2025 Voter Lists pending a comprehensive independent audit.
3. Abolition of the 2023 Election Commissioners Appointment Law to restore constitutional independence to the Election Commission of India.
The Cockroach Janta Party emphasizes that no amount of state repression, preemptive custody, or illegal detentions will extinguish the people's resolve. The movement will continue uninterrupted on every street and at every barricade across the nation until our democratic demands are fulfilled. Concurrently, the party's legal cell is initiating immediate proceedings in the High Court and Supreme Court to ensure complete constitutional accountability for the unlawful detention of CJP leaders, peaceful activists, and volunteer citizens who have been wrongfully suppressed for exercising their fundamental democratic rights.
