Jaipur - A shocking incident from Chittorgarh district in Rajasthan has left the education sector and state government grappling with a severe blow to their reputation. The case revolves around a government school headmaster and a female teacher, whose objectionable conduct within the school premises came to light through a viral video. Taking strict action, the Rajasthan government dismissed the accused headmaster, Arvindnath Vyas, and teacher from their services on January 20.

Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar, on January 23, shared the termination orders on his social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), sternly warning educators to uphold discipline. He stated, “Discipline and morality are paramount in the field of education. The state government is committed to maintaining discipline in this sector, and such acts will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”

On January 18, an explicit video of the headmaster and a female teacher from the Government Higher Secondary School in Salera village, Chittorgarh, surfaced on social media. The video, reportedly filmed in the school office, captured the duo engaging in inappropriate behavior.

This revelation caused an uproar in the education department. Despite repeated complaints from students and villagers over time, no decisive action was taken earlier. Frustrated, villagers installed CCTV cameras in the school office to gather evidence.

The CCTV footage, along with the viral video, showed the headmaster and the teacher in compromising situations at different times on school premises, even appearing in varied outfits during their inappropriate acts.

As soon as the incident came to light, the education department swung into action. District Elementary Education Officer (DEO) Rajendra Kumar Sharma immediately suspended both educators. Subsequently, the Joint Director of Education in Udaipur formed a special inquiry committee.

After the suspension on January 18, a notice was issued on January 20, seeking explanations from both teachers. While Arvindnath Vyas failed to respond or defend himself before the inquiry committee, the accused female teacher appeared in person and admitted to being in the viral video but claimed it had been edited.

The inquiry committee, however, rejected her defense after verifying the footage’s authenticity. Investigators visited the village, recorded statements from students, parents, and residents, and confirmed the legitimacy of the evidence, including the CCTV footage. Based on its findings, the committee deemed both educators guilty and recommended their dismissal. On January 20, the education department officially terminated their services.

Termination Letters Cite Irreparable Damage

In the dismissal letters issued by the DEO’s office, the incident was described as an obscene and unethical act captured on video, which not only went viral on social media but also gained nationwide attention, becoming a national news story. The incident was cited as having caused irreparable and inexcusable damage to the image of Rajasthan’s education department.

The letter further stated that the educators’ actions amounted to gross misconduct. It emphasized that a teacher is expected to maintain a high moral character, exemplary conduct, and ethical values, all of which the accused failed to uphold.

Reacting to the incident and the subsequent dismissal, Education Minister Madan Dilawar stated, “Both individuals have been terminated for indulging in indiscipline and immoral activities. The Rajasthan state government is determined to maintain discipline in the education sector, and such acts will not be tolerated. This decision underscores that any irregularities in the field of education will be dealt with strictly, and guilty individuals will face severe consequences.”

He further urged teachers to carry out their responsibilities with sincerity and dedication, stating, “We appeal to all educators to uphold their duties honestly and work diligently to brighten the futures of their students.”
