Chittorgarh- In a controversial turn of events, two government school teachers in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, have been dismissed from service following allegations of immoral and indecent conduct. The disciplinary action comes after a viral video surfaced on social media, purportedly showing the two educators engaging in inappropriate behavior on school premises.
The dismissed educators are Arvind Nath Vyas, a Level-2 teacher, and his colleague a Level-1 lady teacher, both employed at Government Upper Primary School Salera under the jurisdiction of PEEO Rajiv Gandhi Higher Secondary School, Ajoliya ka Kheda.
On January 18, an obscene video of Vyas, the Headmaster and a teachers' union leader, along with a female teacher, went viral. The video is reportedly from the headmaster's office. As soon as the incident came to light, it created an uproar across the entire education sector. Both the teachers were suspended immediately and an inquiry committee was constituted to investigate the matter.
The inquiry committee, formed by the Joint Director of Education, Udaipur, visited the village and recorded statements from parents, students, and villagers. After verifying the CCTV footage and the video, the committee submitted its report to the Director of Education (Primary). The report recommended the dismissal of both teachers. Consequently, both the teachers were dismissed on January 20.
According to the dismissal letter issued by the Office of the Elementary District Education Officer (DEO), the video in question depicted Vyas engaging in indecent acts with a female staff inside the headmaster's office. Despite being suspended on January 18, and served a notice on January 20, asking an explanation, Vyas did not respond to the notice or present any defense to the inquiry team.
The DEO’s order underscored the gravity of the misconduct, stating that Vyas’s actions had severely tarnished the image of the Rajasthan Education Department at both the state and national levels. The report deemed the behavior to be a violation of public service ethics and detrimental to the trust placed in educators.
The lady teacher implicated in the case, personally appeared before the committee and admitted during the inquiry that she was present in the viral video but claimed it had been manipulated through editing. However, the inquiry committee dismissed her defense, concluding that the video was genuine and her involvement in the misconduct was undeniable.
Her actions were also deemed to have caused irreparable damage to the reputation of the state’s education system. The dismissal order emphasized that a teacher’s role requires moral integrity, professionalism, and exemplary conduct. The DEO’s office ruled her actions as a violation of public trust and education ethics.
Consequently, under the provisions of Rule 19(ii) of the Rajasthan Civil Services (Classification, Control, and Appeal) Rules, 1958, both the teachers were dismissed from service with immediate effect.
The letter stated that the unethical and obscene acts captured in the video, which went viral on various social media platforms, were not only viewed by the Rajasthan Education Department but also became a matter of national news. These actions severely tarnished the reputation of the Education Department at both the state and national levels, rendering them unforgivable. The letter emphasized that the damage caused to the department's image is irreparable and inexcusable.
It further highlighted that, as educators, they were found engaging in unethical conduct and participating in obscene acts, as seen in the viral video. Such behavior constitutes serious misconduct. The letter emphasized that teachers are expected to uphold a high moral character, virtuous conduct, ethical strength, and an exemplary personality.
