Udaipur: South Rajasthan's prestigious Mohanlal Sukhadia University in Udaipur has received an 'A' grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). However, due to a slight difference in marks from the coveted A+ grade, Vice Chancellor Professor Sunita Mishra has submitted a revision appeal to NAAC.

Dr. Kunjan Acharya, the University spokesperson, stated that in the first week of this month, a 6-member NAAC committee conducted an inspection of Sukhadia University. Following the inspection, the university was awarded an 'A' grade with a 3.12 CGPA. Although the official certificate is yet to be received, the margin of marks for the A+ grade is very narrow. Consequently, Vice Chancellor Professor Sunita Mishra submitted her online revision request appeal on the NAAC portal last Sunday. The appeal contends that the university merits an A+ grade, and therefore, the marks should be revisited and re-evaluated. Vice Chancellor Professor Mishra is confident that, upon re-evaluation, the university will attain the A+ grade. The results of the revaluation are expected within a fortnight.

The NAAC team was chaired by Prof. Ramesh Chandra Mishra from Mahakoshal University, Jabalpur, and coordinated by Prof. Manoj Kumar Shastri from Gujarat University, Ahmedabad. Other team members included Professor Pradipta Kumar Behera from Sambhalpur University, Orissa, Prof. AM Shah from Islamic University, Srinagar, Prof. Mohammad Altaf Khan from Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi, and Dr. Sukirti Ghoshal from Hindi University, West Bengal.

The team had conducted an extensive evaluation during their three-day visit. They visited various parts of the university, including the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, Law College, Science College, Commerce College, Faculty of Management Studies, Sports Complex, Administrative Building, Examination Branch, all hostels, cafeteria, departments, and laboratories from November 6th to 8th. They also evaluated the university's libraries.

The NAAC team, after their visit to the university, had expressed their appreciation for the academic environment and the arrangements in place. They commended the university for its high-quality educational facilities and physical resources, despite it being a state university. The team was particularly impressed with the laboratories, research projects, and innovations at the institution.

This marked the third visit by NAAC to Sukhadia University, with previous assessments in 2003 and 2014 resulting in B+ and A grades, respectively. The university was hopeful to achieve a grade above 'A'. Such a high grade leads to numerous benefits, including financial grants and a stronger position in the higher education sector.
