New Delhi- In today's world, there is a dire need to promote intellectual property (IP) law and management to drive innovation and economic growth. This is the key message of a new article by Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar.

The article, "Intellectual Property has become a cornerstone of international trade", highlights the importance of IP law and management in promoting innovation and economic growth. It also suggests that there is a need to strengthen the IP regime in India to attract foreign investment and enable technology transfer.

The Vice President emphasised the need to look beyond the conventional career paths and explore more lucrative and impactful career options. He highlighted the example of the Rigveda, which states, "Let noble thoughts come to us from all sides". This verse, he said, encapsulates the essence of intellectual property - the free flow of ideas and knowledge for the betterment of society.

Emphasising the critical role of intellectual property (IP) law and management in driving innovation and economic growth, particularly underscoring the need to protect both modern creative endeavours and our ancient knowledge, Shri Dhankhar indicated that IP has become a cornerstone of international trade in globalised era and noted that for a nation like India, with its vast population, strong IP protection is essential for attracting foreign investment and enabling technology transfer. It cites several examples of how IP has been used to create and innovate products and services, as well as how IP has been used to improve efficiency and productivity.

The Vice President concluded by urging the students to neutralise the forces that prioritise partisan or self-interest over national welfare. He said, "Time has come to be out of the silo of seductive civil service jobs". The Vice President encouraged the students to explore opportunities in the IP law and management sector, emphasising their potential to contribute to the growth of the country's economy.
