Hyderabad- The All India OBC Students Association (AIOBCSA) organised a half-day seminar on Caste Census, Reservations, and Social Justice at the Political Science Seminar Hall, Arts College, Osmania University. The event brought together scholars, activists, and public representatives to deliberate on the need for a comprehensive caste census and effective implementation of reservations for the marginalized.

Renowned political thinker and psephologist Prof. Yogendra Yadav, who attended as the chief guest, remarked, “The Telangana Government released caste survey data which is partial and akin to an X-ray, but what we truly needs is an MRI scan—a detailed and comprehensive caste census. Only then can policy decisions be genuinely transformative.” He called for unity among OBCs, SCs, STs, and Minorities to strengthen the broader agenda of social justice.

Retired IAS officer and Chairman of BC Intellectual Forum, T. Chirenjeevulu, presented detailed data on the systemic discrimination faced by BCs in Telangana, particularly in nominated posts and the legislative sphere. He stressed the urgency for corrective measures and inclusive representation.

Anil Eravathri, Chairperson of Telangana State Minerals Development Corporation, urged students and youth to intensify their efforts and hold the BJP-led Union Government accountable on the issue of caste census and reservation implementation.

Prof. Sukumar from the University of Delhi emphasized the historical and constitutional significance of the social justice agenda, while Prof. V. Srilatha, Board of Studies, Department of Political Science, Osmania University, called on AIOBCSA to promote BC women leadership and address gender-specific concerns within the community.

Dr. Paramadhamulu from the Sociology Department, OU, also shared insights on caste-based inequalities and the necessity of data-driven policies.

Gowd Kiran Kumar, National President of AIOBCSA, reiterated the Association’s commitment to social justice. He announced the launch of a movement demanding 42% reservations for BCs, urging unity among Bahujan and progressive organisations to pressurize the Union Government for constitutional and policy-level changes.

Mahesh Goud, AIOBCSA National Secretary and OU In-charge, coordinated the seminar and reaffirmed the association’s resolve to fight for the rights of the OBC community and other marginalized groups.

The seminar concluded with a strong call for solidarity, activism, and sustained pressure on governments to implement inclusive and data-backed policies for true social justice.
