Koderma- In a shocking case of honor killing, a young woman in Jharkhand’s Koderma district was brutally murdered by her father and two brothers for being in a relationship against their wishes. The crime, which took place on February 2 in Bhagwatidih village under the Markachcho police station, was uncovered when local shepherds spotted a decomposed hand emerging from the sand near the Panchkhero River. Disturbed by the sight, they alerted the police, who later exhumed the headless body and identified the victim as Nibha Pandey, daughter of Madan Pandey.

According to the police investigation, Nibha’s family strongly opposed her relationship with a young man from the village. Enraged by her defiance, her father, Madan Pandey, along with her brothers, Nitesh Pandey and Jyotish Pandey, allegedly attacked her with an axe, killing her instantly. In an attempt to hide the crime, the family initially concealed her body in a water tank inside their home. However, as decomposition set in and the smell became unbearable, they decided to dispose of the remains. On February 5, they transported the body in a sack on a bicycle and buried it in the sand along the riverbank.

The police have arrested all three accused and recovered the axe used in the murder, as well as the bicycle used for disposing of the body. During interrogation, they reportedly confessed to the crime. Superintendent of Police Anudeep Singh confirmed the arrests and stated that further legal proceedings are in progress.
