New Delhi: A controversial video of renowned spiritual storyteller Aniruddhacharya Maharaj has gone viral on social media, igniting a significant political firestorm. In the clip, the preacher is heard making remarks that are being widely interpreted as a threat against the judiciary. The video has drawn a sharp rebuke from Bhim Army founder and Member of Parliament from Nagina, Chandrashekhar Azad, who is now demanding Aniruddhacharya's immediate arrest.
In the widely circulated clip, Aniruddhacharya appears to be responding to a purported comment made by a judge. He states, "A judge said, 'Why should we give the verdict? If your god is so powerful, let him do it himself.' I have a question for that judge, if I ever meet him, I'll ask: if God is to do everything, then why are you sitting there breaking the judge's chair?"
He continues, "You were made a judge to deliver justice. But instead, you insult the Hindu Sanatan culture. He (God) can do anything. He can manifest and kill Ravana. He can also rip open Hiranyakashyap's chest. Now, if you want to get your chest ripped open, then let me know."
It is this final sentence that has triggered widespread outrage and condemnation.
Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar Azad took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice his strong opposition. He described Aniruddhacharya's statement as a reflection of a "casteist and despicable mindset."
"Aniruddhacharya's statement, 'if you want to get your chest ripped open…' is indicative of his casteist and cheap thinking," Azad wrote in his post. "To openly threaten the Chief Justice of India like this is an attack on the Constitution and the judiciary." He added that hatred and violence are being peddled in the guise of religion.
Quoting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Azad warned, "The venerable Babasaheb had cautioned that 'if superstition is promoted, democracy will be in peril'."
Tagging the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and the Uttar Pradesh Government in his post, Chandrashekhar Azad called for swift action against the preacher. "Immediate action must be taken against such hateful rhetoric stemming from a venomous, casteist mentality, and those who use anti-constitutional language should be put behind bars," he demanded.
The incident has ignited a fresh debate on the boundaries between religious sermons and the respect owed to constitutional institutions. As the video continues to proliferate across social media platforms, it is drawing mixed reactions from the public, further fueling the controversy.
