Yechury a Christian, Converted to Islam After Marriage: Udaipur MP's Claims Stir Controversy

Udaipur- Udaipur MP Mannalal Rawat has sparked controversy with a social media post following the death of CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury. In his post, Rawat referred to Yechury as a Christian, accusing him of deceiving people by using a Hindu name and claiming that leftists are enemies of Hinduism.

In another post, Rawat alleged that Yechury's entire family converted to Islam after his marriage to Seema Chishti. In response, CPI(M) district secretary Rajesh Singhvi accused Rawat of spreading hatred based on religion, stating that Rawat’s religion is his personal matter but he does not believe in humanity and is unfit to be called a people's representative.

Singhvi pointed out the contradictory stance within the BJP, noting that while Prime Minister Modi paid tribute to Yechury, calling him a great leader and lamenting his loss, and BJP National President JP Nadda also paid respects to Yechury’s mortal remains, lower-level BJP leaders like Rawat are making hate posts, misleading the public, and harming the unity and integrity of the country. Singhvi reminded Rawat that the BJP government had awarded Yechury the title of "Best MP" in 2017 based on his merit.

Singhvi emphasized that communists have never engaged in politics based on religion or caste and instead fought for the unity and rights of the common working people. He added that Yechury's life stands as an example for the country's ordinary citizens. To make such comments about someone who is no longer alive reflects a narrow and distorted mindset.

Singhvi warned that if MP Rawat does not apologize for his post, he will face legal action.
