Rahul Gandhi Focuses on Key Issues in Maharashtra Polls

Congress leader emphasizes inflation, unemployment, and social justice as decisive factors

Mumbai - Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, speaking to reporters on the final day of the Maharashtra Assembly election campaign, stated that key issues like inflation, unemployment, and social justice will be decisive factors in the upcoming polls on Wednesday. He emphasized that the plight of the common people, burdened by unfulfilled promises, will heavily influence voters.

Gandhi criticized the outgoing government for allegedly diverting Maharashtra's resources to other states, depriving local youth of job opportunities. He cited several large-scale projects, totaling Rs 7 lakh crore, that were moved out of the state, along with over five lakh jobs intended for Marathi youth.

Gandhi reiterated the Maha Vikas Aghadi's (MVA) commitment to its manifesto, released on November 10, which he highlighted as being inspired by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's vision. The manifesto outlines a range of welfare measures for various sections of society, including a promise to conduct a caste census in Maharashtra, similar to the ones conducted in Telangana and Karnataka. "Like Telangana and Karnataka, we shall conduct a caste census in Maharashtra. It’s a major concern before the country and the central pillar of our strategy. At least 50 per cent of the population has absolutely no participation in the government or private sector, and we need to know this,” declared Gandhi.

Additionally, the MVA plans to implement a Rs 25 lakh health insurance scheme to provide affordable healthcare to the people, modeled after a successful scheme implemented by the Congress in Rajasthan. Gandhi vowed that after the MVA government is elected, it will work diligently for the people of Maharashtra and Mumbai.
