BSP Reviews Urban Bodies Poll Performance, Raises Concerns on Misuse of State Machinery

The BSP Supremo, appealed to the Election Commission to implement measures for curbing the misuse of state machinery and the politics of religion in violation of the Constitution and Law.

Lucknow— The Bahujan Samaj Party held a meeting at its state headquarters here on Thursday to review the performance in the recently concluded Urban Local Bodies Poll. The BSP Supremo presided over the meeting. The party reviewed the performance after receiving feedback from representatives from 18 modules and 75 districts. The meeting was crucial in perspective of the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls in 2024.

Misuse of State Machinery by the BJP

The BSP Supremo targeted the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party over its use of state machinery in the polls. She also accused the Samajwadi Party of adopting unfair means and stratagem in the polls. She appealed to the election commission to implement measures for curbing the misuse of state machinery and the politics of religion in violation of the constitution and law.

Need to Reach the Villages

The BSP Supremo said that the party has been grappling with adverse circumstances for a long time, but the party workers need to take forward the caravan of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar undeterred and undaunted to change the current scenario of "Vote Humara Raaz Tumhara" (Our Vote, Your Rule) in the perspective of upcoming Lok Sabha polls. There is a need to take the message to the villages. She said that BSP will have to emerge as an alternative for change in power.

Thanking the voters for the support shown despite adverse circumstances, she said that the Bharatiya Janata Party tried to manage and manipulate the elections through OBC reservations and Women's reservations.

Urban Local Body Polls 2023

The Bahujan Samaj Party contested the Urban Local Bodies held in the state. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party won all the 17 seats of Mayor. However, BSP managed to put up a good fight in Saharanpur and Agra against the BJP only to lose in the last rounds.
