BSP Firm on Solo Endeavor: Mayawati Reiterates No-Alliance Stand Ahead of Lok Sabha Polls

Former Chief Minister Mayawati emphasized that the politicization of religion for electoral gains is not correct, impacting the well-being of the people and the country.

Lucknow- The four-time Chief Minister, Mayawati, once again dispelled speculations by reiterating that BSP will not form an alliance with any party or enter into agreements, citing bitter past experiences with electoral coalitions. This declaration holds significance, especially amid media conjectures about a potential alliance with AIMIM led by Asaduddin Owaisi.

On Saturday, Mayawati addressed the party workers and functionaries from Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand at the state headquarters in Lucknow. She had previously reviewed the party's progress in states other than U.P and Uttarakhand on January 17th and 18th.

Mayawati urged party workers to adhere to guidelines for organizing small meetings at the cadre level to increase the vote share at the booth/sector level. In anticipation of the Pran Pratishtha event at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, she emphasized that the politicization of religion for electoral gains is incorrect, impacting the well-being of the people and the country.

Criticizing the BJP government, she stated that 81 crore people in the country depend on government-provided food grains, which she deemed an insufficient solution for the public grappling with high inflation, poverty, and unemployment.

Importantly, Mayawati reiterated that BSP will not form alliances or agreements with any party, emphasizing the party's bitter experiences with electoral coalitions in the past. This stands crucial as media speculations circulated about a potential alliance with AIMIM led by Asaduddin Owaisi.

Political analysts express skepticism about BSP's performance in the Lok Sabha polls if it chooses to contest alone, citing the party's limited success in the 2022 Assembly Elections, where it won only one seat out of 403 and witnessed a drop in vote share from 22% in 2017 to 13%.

However, in response to media inquiries, the lone MLA of the party, Umashankar Singh, appeared confident, stating, "The party will contest the elections alone and will perform like it won 200 seats in 2007."

He highlighted Mayawati's unique position, addressing both the Babri Masjid and the Ram Temple, emphasizing BSP as the only party with secular credentials that respects every religion.
