BJP's Parvesh Verma Declares Lavish Assets Ahead of Delhi Polls

Lists 9-crore Toyota Fortuner, 11.77-lakh XUV among his assets

New Delhi — Former BJP MP Parvesh Verma, who filed his nomination for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections from the New Delhi constituency Wednesday, declared movable assets worth 77.89 crore rupees and immovable assets valued at 12.19 crore rupees in his election affidavit. His wife declared movable assets worth 17.53 crore rupees and immovable assets worth 6.91 crore rupees.

Verma, who holds an MBA from the Fore School of Management, listed business and social work as his primary sources of income, while his wife is engaged in private service and social work. He has a cash balance of 2.2 lakh rupees and owns three cars: a Toyota Fortuner (9 lakh rupees), a Toyota Innova (36 lakh rupees), and an XUV (11.77 lakh rupees).

The BJP leader declared 200 grams of gold worth 8.25 lakh rupees in his possession, while his wife holds 1.11 kilograms of gold valued at 45.75 lakh rupees. Their two daughters each own 300 grams of gold worth 12.35 lakh rupees, and their son possesses 150 grams of gold valued at 6.17 lakh rupees.

Verma is currently facing a defamation case filed by former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia regarding allegations of corruption in Delhi's schools.

Earlier in the day, Verma offered prayers at the Gauri Shankar temple in Delhi and held a roadshow to mark his nomination filing. The roadshow saw a significant crowd in attendance, with Verma joined by his wife, two daughters, and BJP's New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj.

Verma will contest against AAP convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress' Sandeep Dikshit in the New Delhi Assembly constituency. Delhi will vote in a single-phased election Feb. 5, with the results expected Feb. 8.
