Mumbai- The highly anticipated biopic "Phule," starring Pratik Gandhi as Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, will be released in theaters worldwide on April 11, 2025, coinciding with the 197th birth anniversary of the social reformer. The announcement was made by the film's producers, Dancing Shiva Films and Kingsmen Productions, on social media today, also marking the birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule, India's first woman educator and wife of Mahatma Phule.

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Ananth Mahadevan, the film delves into the life and contributions of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, a pivotal figure in India's fight against social injustice and inequality. "This is our humble tribute to a great son and daughter of India," said Mahadevan. "The film is a must-watch for the Y-generation, as it offers more than what history books have touched upon. It’s an immersive journey back in time, showcasing how these visionaries shaped our nation’s history.”

Patralekhaa, who portrays Savitribai Phule in the film, expressed her honor in taking on the role. "Alongside Jyotirao Phule, she laid the very foundation for modern education and social equality in India," she stated. "I’m thrilled that audiences will soon witness their inspiring journey on the big screen, and hopefully, be moved by their extraordinary courage and vision.”

The filmmakers emphasized their commitment to historical accuracy while crafting a narrative that resonates with contemporary audiences. "We have stuck to the historical facts while making this film, but it is not just a historical narrative," explained Mahadevan. "The film is a call to recognise the sacrifices and values that continue to shape our society.”
