Patna- Former Bihar MLA Anant Singh surrendered at the Barh civil court on Friday and was subsequently remanded to 14 days of judicial custody in Patna's Beur Jail. The surrender comes in connection with an ongoing shoot-out case, highlighting the legal proceedings against the political figure.

In an exclusive interview, Bihar's Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar emphasized the state police's commitment to upholding the rule of law. "We are continuously striving to ensure that no one is above the law, whether they are police officers or government employees," Kumar stated. He highlighted recent actions against errant officials, including arrests of police officers and other government employees who have violated legal protocols.

The DGP addressed various aspects of law enforcement, including the approach to encounters and criminal investigations. He explained that increased police mobility could naturally lead to more encounter situations and stressed the importance of equal treatment under the law. Kumar also revealed that special standard operating procedures have been implemented to identify and seize properties acquired through criminal activities, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to combating crime in the state.
