Pratikshit Singh

Lucknow— National Convocation of Rashtriya Kisan Manch was organized in Lucknow today. Farmers from all over the State gathered in Lucknow. The convocation was addressed among others by Shekhar Dixit, President of Rashtriya Kisan Manch. O.P Yadav, General Secretary of Rashtriya Kisan Manch, Subhash Yadav (Rashtriya Parivartan dal)  Ashok Singh (State President- Rashtriya Janta Dal), Avinash Saluja (Indian National Congress), Sunil Valmiki (Valmiki Samaj) and spiritual leaders like Mahant Girish Das Maharaj and Kalbe Hussain.

Sanjay Singh, Member of Parliament from the Aam Admi Party, the Chief guest on this occasion, minced no words in attacking the government he said that the now rescinded farm laws were aimed at bringing back the zamindari system which has been ended in the country was being brought back." The laws would have ended the provisions of MSP (minimum support price). The government said that it has increased the MSP, but the reality is that it has also reduced the procurement and they will reduce it further." He said.

Calling for the implementation of the Swaminathan report, he said that the Prime Minister when he was the Chief Minister used to say that we will implement Swaminathan Report but when he became the Prime Minister, the report was thrown into the dustbin. I want the government to implement the C2+50% formula of the Swaminathan report for providing the MSP.

Lauding former Prime Minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh, he said "If someone has taken forward the tradition of Gautam Budhhain Indian politics it is V.P. Singh as he believed that the downtrodden should get the share in the jobs and politics. V.P Singh becomes more relevant today when we see that in Rajasthan a Dalit is not allowed to enter the temple after the wedding and when a Dalit in Bulandshahar seeks security so that he can safely ride a horse in his wedding and also if food cooked by a Dalit is not eaten in mid-day meal."

Hira Lal, who came from Shahpur Tonda village in the Mohan block of the Unnao district was aggrieved over the stray cattle, which have increased even since the BJP government came to power. He says "Whole day we work and, in the night, we have to guard the fields against the cattle."

Another farmer Ravi Kumar of the same village rues about the sporadic availability of fertilizers "we don't get the supply of fertilizers on time and it is very expensive also."
