Udaipur- The protest against Mohanlal Sukhadia University (MLSU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sunita Mishra over her controversial remarks took a unique and symbolic turn on Monday. Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a silent demonstration by blindfolding themselves and cleaning the administrative building area, accusing the state government of "turning a blind eye" to the issue.

The protest, held on the first day of Navratri, was a powerful critique of the perceived inaction from the Rajasthan government. Students cleaned up litter, arranged broken flower pots, and tidied the area around the building, highlighting the alleged administrative neglect and mismanagement under the current VC's leadership.

The core of the protest remained the demand for the immediate removal of VC Prof. Sunita Mishra for her remarks that allegedly praised Mughal emperors Aurangzeb and Akbar, which have been deemed an insult to the legacy of Maharana Pratap in Mewar.

However, the new form of demonstration added a layer of criticism aimed directly at the state government. By blindfolding themselves, students aimed to mirror what they called the government's "wilful blindness" to the entire controversy.

An ABVP student leader, addressing the media, explained the symbolism: "Just as the government has blindfolded itself and is working, in the same way, we have blindfolded ourselves to stage our protest today."

He further elaborated on the cleanliness drive, stating, "The university's condition is quite bad. There was a lot of filth outside the administrative building. On this holy day of Navratri, we cleaned the area to stage our protest."

Another protester said, "The purpose of blindfolding ourselves is to protest against the Rajasthan government, which has become blind in taking action against this VC Madam."

The students reiterated their demand for Prof. Mishra's removal, asserting that their agitation will continue indefinitely until she is ousted from her position.

"We pray to Mata Rani to give VC Madam good sense so that she resigns from her post and leaves here soon," one student leader said, connecting the protest to the spiritual significance of the day.

The university campus has been a hotbed of tension since the VC's remarks came to light, with continuous protests from ABVP, NSUI, and other Hindu outfits. The state government had formed a committee to look into the matter, but the protesting students and groups have dismissed it as a delay tactic, demanding immediate and decisive action.
