Ajmer- A serious incident has come to light at the Central University of Rajasthan in Ajmer, where police forcibly took Dr. Rakesh Kumar, an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics, from his own office and detained him for nearly four hours. It is alleged that this action was taken without any FIR or written complaint, simply because he had said he would not attend an event of the Deputy Chief Minister. Dr. Kumar has called this a conspiracy to suppress his voice and alleged that the university administration, in collusion with the police, subjected him to communal and discriminatory treatment.

Professor Dr. Rakesh Kumar, who hails from the Scheduled Caste community, has been accused of conspiring to disrupt the Deputy Chief Minister's event scheduled for April 15. However, according to his complaint, the reality is entirely different. Police entered his office, snatched his mobile phone, threw his laptop bag, threatened him, and detained him for four hours inside the university's administrative building. Is this the way to celebrate Ambedkar Jayanti, or is it a conspiracy to crush the voice of the SC/ST community?

Dr. Rakesh Kumar has filed a detailed complaint naming 10 individuals. These include Ajmer SP Harsh Vardhan Agarwalla, Inspector Dayaram Choudhary, Constable Ram Gopal, Constable Bajarang Lal Morya, Constable Anil Kumar, University Vice Chancellor Prof. Anand Bhalerao, Registrar Amardeep Sharma, Dr. Pramod Kamble, Dr. Anand Kumar, and PRO Anuradha Mittal.

According to the professor, on April 15, at around 9:30 AM, when he arrived at his office after getting off the university bus, four policemen entered his office. They accused him of planning to disrupt the Deputy Chief Minister's event. Dr. Rakesh Kumar immediately asked which email contained such a claim. The police said the email was in English and they could not read it. The professor showed them his email, which clearly stated: "I can't be a part of a crowd, especially for a political gathering. Sorry!" – meaning he did not want to be part of a crowd at a political event.

Despite this, the police created a ruckus in his office. Inspector Dayaram Choudhary threw the bag containing his expensive laptop, pulled a chair, sat next to him, and completely blocked him. He threatened to send the professor to jail. The professor responded that if he was a criminal, they should send him to jail, but first they must show him a copy of the complaint or FIR. Despite this, the police snatched his mobile phone, did not give him a chance to close his office door, and dragged him out in front of students, teachers, and staff.

Inside the police vehicle, Inspector Dayaram Choudhary spoke with SP Harsh Vardhan Agarwalla and Registrar Amardeep Sharma. Dr. Rakesh Kumar heard that Amardeep Sharma was praising Dayaram Choudhary. Later, he was detained for four hours – until 1:30 PM – in a room near the Vice Chancellor's and Registrar's offices. When he got his mobile phone back, he learned that the media had already covered the incident. However, the university's PRO, Anuradha Mittal, lied to the media, claiming that the university had not sent any email to the police.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar alleges that he had sent the email to only 34 people – 32 SC/ST faculty members, the VC, and the Registrar. So, who sent it to the police? He has accused Prof. Anand Bhalerao, Amardeep Sharma, Dr. Pramod Kamble, and Dr. Anand Kumar of conspiring against him.

The professor asks – Is India a democracy or a dictatorship? Has raising questions, expressing concern, and staying away from political events become a crime?

What is the Real Reason for the Harassment? Is Raising Questions a Crime?

Dr. Rakesh Kumar has a long history of raising concerns about students, teachers, and academic scams at the Central University of Rajasthan. In a conversation with The Mooknayak, he revealed that neither Vice Chancellor Prof. Anand Bhalerao nor Registrar Amardeep Sharma has ever responded to his emails. He further pointed out that the Registrar's emails are often riddled with serious grammatical and typographical errors – an issue Dr. Kumar has formally complained about on multiple occasions. Most recently, he had raised the matter of alleged academic scams within the university.

Prior to that, a serious case of sexual harassment had emerged against a professor from the Biotechnology Department. Several female students, including those from SC/ST communities, had accused him of sexual harassment. The case dragged on for months. However, according to Dr. Kumar, the Vice Chancellor allegedly suppressed the entire matter – because the accused professor was his close aide. Despite facing grave charges, the same professor was first appointed Dean of Students' Welfare and later made Head of the Department.

As a symbolic protest, I refused to participate in this event. This was clearly stated in the email conversation. That is why the Vice Chancellor and Registrar conspired to suppress my voice and harass me indirectly.

The Email Said – 'SC/ST Community is Not for Sale'

On April 12, Dr. Anand Kumar, Convener of the SC/ST Cell, sent an email stating that Ambedkar Jayanti would be celebrated on April 15 and that every SC/ST faculty member should ensure that at least five students attend the Deputy Chief Minister's event. Rakesh Kumar pointed out that Babasaheb was born on April 14, so there is no justification for holding the event a day late. He responded to the email saying that the SC/ST community is not for sale. He asked how, when you could not stand with SC/ST students in the sexual harassment case, you can now ask them to be brought to a political event. He clearly stated that he would not participate in any political event. Four other SC/ST faculty members raised similar concerns, but Dr. Anand Kumar and Dr. Pramod Kamble (SC/ST Liaison Officer) never responded.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar alleges that this was the real reason. Vice Chancellor Prof. Anand Bhalerao and Registrar Amardeep Sharma called the police to suppress his voice. The police had first called him to the Registrar's office, but he had asked them to come to his office instead. How did the police enter the university campus without the administration's permission? Why was he detained inside the university's administrative building when there is no police station on campus? The professor asks – Is India a democracy or a dictatorship? Has raising questions, expressing concern, and staying away from political events become a crime?

The professor has two demands: First – a copy of the complaint or FIR filed against him should be provided. Second – all guilty police officers, especially Inspector Dayaram Choudhary, should be given strict punishment. The call records and email exchanges of the Vice Chancellor, Registrar, both doctors, and the PRO must be thoroughly investigated.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar has written that he does not want any apology because that will not reduce his mental trauma. He had been working respectfully at the university for nine years, but in one day, his dignity was shattered.

The Mooknayak reached out to the VC, Registrar and Ajmer SP for their response. This report will be updated when we receive their side of the allegations.

The professor has posed a serios question: "The Vice Chancellor who was busy celebrating Ambedkar Jayanti – did he not realise that he was keeping Ambedkar's own people in detention on that very day? He used the police to humiliate us. Is this not the worst form of hypocrisy?"

The professor has already sent a detailed complaint to the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, human rights bodies, and other organisations. He has demanded a thorough investigation and maximum punishment for all those involved.

As word of this incident spreads, the matter has ignited a fierce debate on social media and in mainstream news. Academics, students, and civil rights activists are demanding answers.
