Tamil Nadu— In a shocking incident at V. Akram Government High School in Villupuram district, a Physical Education (PT) teacher brutally assaulted a Dalit student from Class 6, causing his head to split into two. Apart from severe head injuries, the child has also received multiple stitches on his stomach. Reports claim that despite undergoing surgery, the student remains in critical condition. A viral photo of the child’s post-surgery head injury has horrified people, leading to widespread outrage among the community and social activists.

The teacher who beat the student is also said to be from the Scheduled Caste.

The Tamil Nadu state committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) condemned the teacher's cruelty, sharing images of the injured child on Facebook. The party strongly criticized the assault on a Dalit student and demanded immediate action against the accused.

In its social media post, CPIM stated, "We strongly condemn this brutality. However, no action has been taken against the teacher or the school principal. Authorities, including the School Education Department, Child Welfare Department, SC/ST Commission, and the police, must take immediate action."

Dalit writer and activist Shalin Maria Lawrence also took to social media platform X to criticize the Tamil Nadu government, stating, "A Dalit student from Class 6 was brutally attacked by his casteist Hindu female PT teacher at a government school in Villupuram, Tamil Nadu. I have no words to express my hatred towards this casteist society and the DMK government’s incompetent school department."

As of the time of reporting, there has been no official response or action from the government or administration regarding the incident.
