Tamil Nadu Police set to issue international arrest warrant for key suspect

Chennai – The Tamil Nadu Police are set to issue a Red Corner Notice against gangster Sambhav Senthil, a key suspect in the murder of BSP state unit President K. Armstrong. Senthil, currently believed to be hiding abroad, is accused of orchestrating the brutal daylight killing in Chennai alongside first accused Nagendran.

According to police sources, Senthil, a law graduate from a prominent business family, has been tracked down. A 'Look Out Circular'(LOC) has already been issued to the Bureau of Immigration to restrict his movements. The Red Corner Notice, an international arrest warrant, aims to locate and provisionally arrest Senthil with the help of international law enforcement agencies.

Senthil, classified as an ‘A+ history sheeter’ at the Washermenpet police station, faces charges in six murder cases, including Armstrong’s. The 2024 murder case saw Armstrong hacked to death by an eight-member gang near his Perambur home on July 5th.

Despite his alleged involvement in extortion, orchestrating crimes, and managing illegal ‘katta panchayats’, Senthil has never been apprehended. Police are relying on a two-decade-old photograph of Senthil in their investigation.

One gang, led by Ponnai Balu (brother of Suresh), has surrendered, while the other two gangs, led by Nagendran and Senthil, are still at large. Nagendran, imprisoned for 26 years, allegedly held a personal grudge against Armstrong, partly fueled by his son K. Ashwathaman, a former Youth Congress office-bearer. Ashwathaman, a lawyer, is an accused in the Armstrong murder case, and the Congress party has removed him from his responsibilities. Police are also pursuing Senthil’s associates, Krishna Kumar and Appu, who are also in hiding.
