Balotara- A severe incident of alleged caste-based violence and physical assault has been reported from the Government Senior Secondary School in Gida, Balotara, leading to the hospitalization of a minor student and the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against a teacher. The complaint was formally lodged at the Gida Police Station by the victim's father, Virdharam, a 46-year-old labourer belonging to the Meghwal community and a resident of Gogasar, Gida.
According to the detailed written report and subsequent police proceedings, the traumatic event unfolded on October 7. The complainant's son, Devaram, a 13-year-old student enrolled in Class 8 at the school, was subjected to a brutal beating by a teacher identified as Anil Bijarnia, a resident of Jhunjhunu.
According to the complainant, his son, Devaram, a Class 8 student at the school, was assaulted on Tuesday at around 3:45 PM. The incident occurred when students were running in the verandah because there was no teacher in their classroom. The accused teacher, identified as PEEO Anil Kumar, arrived and asked the children to identify who had been running. When other students named Devaram, the teacher warned him against misbehaving and then, in an attempt to silence him, began beating him mercilessly.
The assault escalated as the teacher allegedly grabbed Devaram by his hair and banged his head against a wall, causing a serious head injury. After school ended, as soon as the child stepped outside, he began feeling dizzy and started vomiting. Other students then helped him home, from where he was taken to Gida Hospital for treatment, where doctors have recommended further tests. Fellow students have also leveled allegations against the teacher, claiming that Anil Kumar frequently hits students without any reason and that all the children are terrified of his behavior.
Following the submission of the written complaint, the Gida Police registered the case on October 8. The charges invoked are severe and reflect the gravity of the allegations. The case has been registered under Sections 115(2) and 126(2) of the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, which pertain to acts endangering life or personal safety and voluntarily causing hurt. Crucially, acknowledging the caste-based nature of the alleged crime, the police have also invoked the SC/ST (PoA) Act, specifically sections 3(1)(r), 3(1)(s), and 3(2)(va), which deal with intentional insult and intimidation with intent to humiliate a member of a Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe and prescribing punishments for offences committed against them. The case has been assigned to a circle officer for a thorough investigation.
