Varanasi Court Rejects Hindu Side's Request for Expanded ASI Survey at Gyanvapi Complex

Varanasi- A Varanasi court has dismissed a plea from the Hindu side requesting an additional survey by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) at the Gyanvapi complex, citing insufficient grounds.

Advocate Vijay Shankar Rastogi, representing the Hindu side, voiced dissatisfaction, announcing plans to challenge the decision in the High Court within the 30-day appeal window.

The Hindu petitioners claimed that a 100-foot Shivling lies beneath the central dome of the mosque and sought further ASI excavation in specific areas.

Lawyers Vijay Shankar Rastogi and Subhash Nandan Chaturvedi argue that an expanded ASI survey is essential, especially in regions where current equipment was unable to reach. They maintain that this ruling does not mark a defeat, reiterating their commitment to exhausting all legal avenues to strengthen their case.
