Over 4,500 Indian Students Safely Evacuated from Bangladesh

Agartala: Indian students from Brahmanbaria Medical College in Bangladesh are returning through the Akhura Check Post amid widespread protests in Bangladesh.

To date, more than 4,500 Indian students have returned from Bangladesh due to the ongoing violent demonstrations. The Ministry of External Affairs has reported that the Indian High Commission in Dhaka has been arranging security escorts to ensure the safe passage of Indian nationals to the border crossing points.

Additionally, the Ministry disclosed that 500 students from Nepal, 38 from Bhutan, and one from the Maldives have also arrived in India. It emphasized that the High Commission and its Assistant High Commissions remain in constant communication with local authorities to ensure the safety and security of Indian nationals.

They are also in regular contact with students at various universities in Bangladesh and Indian citizens for their welfare and support.

The Ministry further indicated that, over the past two days, the Indian High Commission in Dhaka and its Assistant High Commissions in Chittagong, Rajshahi, Sylhet, and Khulna have been facilitating the return of Indian nationals. The High Commission in Dhaka is also working closely with Bangladesh’s civil aviation authorities and commercial airlines to secure flight services between India and Bangladesh.
