Noida International Airport Completes Key Navigation System Calibration

Noida International Airport (NIA) successfully completed the calibration of its Instrument Landing System (ILS) and Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) on Monday, marking a significant step towards its operational launch later this year.

The calibration process, which began on October 10, was carried out by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) with support from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). A Beech King Air 360ER from the AAI was used for the calibration flights.

The ILS and PAPI are crucial components of an airport's navigation system, providing precise guidance to pilots during approach and landing, especially in low-visibility conditions. This calibration ensures the highest safety standards for aircraft operations at NIA.

"The calibration, carried out by AAI with support from DGCA India, represents a crucial milestone in our journey toward operational readiness, ensuring the highest safety standards for aircraft operations," Noida International Airport stated in a press release.

Noida International Airport, located approximately 72 km from Indira Gandhi International Airport, is expected to be operational by the end of this year. Noida International Airport is anticipated to become operational before the Indira Gandhi International Airport reaches its threshold traffic handling capacity.
