New Delhi- The Nagaland government has issued a security alert to all its deputy commissioners, asking them to strengthen the local security arrangements and intensify the implementation of ILP checks with surprise inspections amid the ongoing political crisis in Bangladesh.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio assured that Nagaland is taking comprehensive measures to manage the situation arising out of the ongoing crisis in Bangladesh, particularly with reference to influx of illegal immigrants.

There is heightened vigilance in the State, Rio told media persons in Delhi. He noted that the requirement of an Inner Line Permit (ILP) for entry, which adds a layer of security, will deter influx from Bangladesh.

According to an official statement, "Home Commissioner, Vyasan R yesterday said, the Deputy Commissioners across the state have been instructed to activate all security coordination in their respective districts. He said the Deputy Commissioners were instructed to intensify ILP checks with surprise inspections."

It further states that "Mr. Vyasan also said the state has a very strong Village council set up. He said, the Deputy Commissioners are advised to activate the village councils and ensure that the communication channels are open for any unusual movement or incident to be reported immediately. He said, meetings with the Assam counterparts have been initiated to enable early warnings."
