New Delhi- The government on Friday discussed the draft rules for moisture meters that will be used for measuring the moisture content of various substances, including cereal grains and oilseeds.
It was informed that moisture meters are specialized devices used for determining the moisture content of various substances. A moisture meter is used to accurately measure the moisture content of cereal grains and oilseeds, which is of the utmost importance for determining their quality and storage suitability.
By enabling farmers and traders to identify better preservation methods, reduce the risk of spoilage, and maintain optimal conditions for storage and transportation, moisture meters provide crucial data. The meeting was attended by various manufacturers, users, scientific institutions, laboratories, and State Government Legal Metrology Departments.
The proposed inclusion of moisture meters in the Legal Metrology Rules aims to standardise and regulate their accuracy, enhancing fairness and transparency in agricultural trade practices.
The department is also working to bring the rules for regulating Gas Meters (PNG Meters), energy Meters, Radar Equipment for measurement of the speed of vehicles and Breath Analyzers.
