Bhopal- To increase the honorarium of elected representatives of all urban bodies in Madhya Pradesh, the state government has decided to increase the honorarium of mayors, chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, and councillors by 20 percent.

This decision was taken by the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav, during his speech at the Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Women Public Representatives Conference in Bhopal. He said that the increase in the honorarium will come into effect next month.

According to the information given by the Chief Minister's office, the municipality which increases its income the most through taxes and fees in its division will be given 2 crore rupees as an incentive. Similarly, the Municipal Council will get 5 crore rupees annually as incentives. This money will be used by the public representatives for the development of infrastructure.

The Chief Minister also informed that the honorarium of the mayor of the Municipal Corporation will increase from 22,000 rupees to 26,400 rupees, the honorarium of the vice-chairperson will increase from 18,000 rupees to 21,600 rupees, and the honorarium of the councillor will increase from 12,000 rupees to 14,400 rupees per month.
