New Delhi- The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare marked World Mental Health Day by celebrating the two-year anniversary of the National Tele Mental Health Programme, Tele MANAS. This year’s theme emphasizes “Prioritizing Mental Health at the Workplace.”
During the event, Aradhana Patnaik, Additional Secretary of MoHFW, launched the Tele MANAS mobile app and video call facility, with the presence of WHO representatives and senior ministry officials.
The app provides 24/7 confidential mental health support, offering resources like self-care tips, mental health games, and mindfulness practices. Initially, video consultations will be available in Karnataka, Jammu & Kashmir, and Tamil Nadu, with plans for nationwide expansion.
Addressing the conference, Patnaik stated that “Mental health is fundamental to health and plays a crucial role in enabling individuals, families and communities to function at their highest level, work productively and contribute to society. Unhealthy work environments and other unfavorable working conditions have an impact on one's general health, well-being, mental health, and involvement or productivity at work. There is a need for creating a good work environment and work-life balance for more productive results in the workplace.”
