New Delhi- The German Embassy in New Delhi recently hosted the fifth edition of its GSDP Conversation Series at IIT Delhi, focusing on "The Future of Work in the Digital Era." This event brought together experts from academia, industry, and government sectors to explore labor market shifts and the demand for green and digital skills. Launched as part of the Indo-German Partnership for Green and Sustainable Development in 2022, the GSDP series emphasizes cooperative efforts between India and Germany to support global sustainability goals, including the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement.
Discussions centered on how joint efforts in higher education and vocational training can address challenges arising from digitalization, automation, and sustainability. Barbel Kofler, Parliamentary State Secretary from Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, underlined the need for an educational approach that integrates sustainability, gender equality, and technology. Meanwhile, Nina Smidt of Siemens Stiftung highlighted technology’s role in expanding educational access, aiming to impact 60,000 students and advocating for shared success stories of AI's benefits.
The panel discussion, moderated by Uwe Gehlen from the German Embassy, featured insights from Indian and German leaders who emphasized the importance of equipping youth with skills for the evolving green and digital economy.
