DG Paramesh Sivamani Takes Charge as 26th Director General of Indian Coast Guard

Sivamani has previously served as the head of Coast Guard operations in the East, West, and Eastern Seaboard regions.

New Delhi- On October 15, DG Paramesh Sivamani assumed the role of the 26th Director General of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). With a distinguished career spanning over 35 years, DG Sivamani has held numerous key positions both onshore and at sea. Specializing in Navigation & Direction, his sea commands have included leading major ICG vessels like the Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel Samar and the Offshore Patrol Vessel Vishwast.

DG Sivamani has previously served as the head of Coast Guard operations in the East, West, and Eastern Seaboard regions. He is an alumnus of the National Defence College in New Delhi and the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington. Promoted to Additional Director General in September 2022, he was stationed at the Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi, before being given the additional charge of Director General in August 2024.

Under his leadership, significant operations were carried out, including the seizure of large quantities of drugs, gold, and other contraband, the rescue of mariners during cyclones, joint exercises with foreign coast guards, anti-poaching missions, and providing humanitarian aid during natural disasters.

DG Sivamani's exemplary service has earned him several honors, including the Tatrakshak Medal in 2014, the President Tatrakshak Medal in 2019, the DG Coast Guard Commendation in 2012, and the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (East) Commendation in 2009.
